I know people like to make resolutions, and I have in the past, but who really keeps them? You just end just kicking yourself if you don't, then you give up on the idea completely.
So this year I decided to go in another direction. I decided to make a list of all the projects I have started, or wanted to start, that I haven't finished. First, I thought about making a list of 52 of them, one per week, but I was inspired to change the number to 34. I had a strong impression that this was the right number for me, that way I can have more time to do the larger ones. I also was a bit realistic, for instance, I want to finish off the laundry room, so I split that into three steps, framing, dry walling and tiling the floor. So if I finish the whole place I can knock off three things from my list, or if I can't finish all of it, some of it still counts.
I also added a few simple things, like painting and hanging a shelf, in the little boys room. I had it years ago in my living room, but I now want it red, currently the third coat is drying, I think it needs one more, than that is it, I don't need it to be perfect, just red, then I can hang it, and then I get to cross it off my list. Do you know how good that will feel? To have something crossed off the list, I can't wait. Plus it will look really great in their room.
I have other practical things in the list also, like making Christmas present, so I can think about them long before December.
My hubs wanted me to add working out, but to me that really isn't something I can ever stop, so it can't be on a list to be crossed off, unless it was a daily to do list. But I have to say, after not being able to work out for a long while, I was able to walk today, and it felt great. I need to get up early to do it, but I think it will be worth it.
Sorry if my post at very funny, but maybe they will get that way someday. BTW, hearing the poop fill your child's diaper is never a good sound, but a very strong warning that you need to be prepared.
