Merry Christmas.

Do you sew?  Have you tried it?  I grew up around a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and lots of aunts and cousins that sewed.  I have hated it and loved it and learned a lot from sewing, especially patience.  It takes lots and lots of patience. I have made several present over the years with my machine, this year I made pillows for my mother, because I knew she would appreciate them.  That is the other thing, if you don't sew, you have no idea how much time and effort goes into sewing something.  It always takes way longer to sew something than you expect it to. Always.

I picked through my scraps and found some pretty colors, and some funky prints. but I know she will love them, because of the time and effort it took.  I sorted them by color, and made stripes in descending darkness. Once I was done with them, I thought of some other ways I could have sewed them together, but I like how they look.

My mom makes pillows for other people all the time, but I am not so certain she gets too many back. So I thought she would appreciate the thought.  I machine quilted it with hearts and curly cues, but they are hard to see in the photo. One is also upside down, but again you can't tell. I think they will be a nice addition to here room.  It also gave me something to do that wouldn't cost a whole lot.  I didn't spend any new money on them, and I sent them with out the pillow forms, so my sister in law stuffed them for me. I love having a sewing room set up so I can sew at a moments notice.  I just finished capes for my niece and nephew all made last minute on a whim.  But since the toddler saw them, I guess I will need to make a few more. So I guess the point of this blog, besides showing some of my talents, is to encourage you to try to sew something, it may just be the thing missing out of your life.
